This month I am doing my very first gig as a background actor in a feature film! - "Noah", as in the story of the ark, the flood and all those animals.
So many of my favourite fantasy creatives are involved. It is directed by Darren Aronofsky(Requiem for a Dream), with Russell Crowe playing the title character. Emma Watson (of Hermione fame) is also starring, as well as Jennifer Connolly(Labyrinth), Anthony Hopkins (I mean, duh!) and Logan Lerman(Percy Jackson). All of this info is out on IMDB.com, and the movie is scheduled to be released in 2014.
Now my excitement to be an extra amidst what is sure to be hundreds of people may seem strange to some, but those who know me best know how much I love movies. So, getting the chance to be in an epic battle scene of a major motion picture is pretty darn cool.
I spent my first day literally running through the forest in the rain. I was covered in both fake and real mud by the end of it, completely dripping from rain and sweat, and exhausted from a nice 15 hour day on two hours of sleep. But it didn't matter. It was so cool. We have a glorious week of rainy night shoots ahead of us for the big battle sequence. And I can't wait!
I have to say, of all the jobs I do to pay the bills, this is a pretty neat experience. And hopefully, the first of many to come.
