Just before "Sweet Charity" opened I joined the latest TYA show happening at Arizona Broadway Theatre - "Pinocchio", playing the little wooden boy himself!
As stated on the ABT website, "First created by Italian writer Carlo Collodi, Pinocchio has come to life in countless movies, plays and musicals. In this latest adaptation, originally produced by the Seattle Children’s Theatre and the Children’s Theatre Company of Minneapolis, you and your students will experience the wonder and humor of classic children’s theatre at its best with ABT’s TYA production of Pinocchio."
Under the hilarious and joyous direction of Andy Meyers, this cast of 5 tackled the show during the daylight hours while Sweet Charity was playing at night. And though we were always tired, wow did we have a great time. Playing at the theatre to huge crowds or popping up at local venues around town, Pinocchio ran from May 1-15.
This beautiful little show was a big one for me as I continue to make TYA a more substantial part of my career. I was honored to play the title role, and so thrilled to see a theatre fully supporting the efforts of their children's productions. Thank you again Arizona Broadway Theatre, for making all of my Children's Theatre dreams come true.
