Puppetry
From planning out elaborate adventures around the yard with my stuffed animals, to playing video games with operatic narratives and epic thematic scores, I have known my entire life that I wanted to be a storyteller. And not only that, but I wanted to focus on material for children and families. And you know what else, the more fantastical and whimsical the better. But how to make a life from this was always the question... I've been an musician, a contemporary dancer, a clown and a magician, a circus performer, a teacher, a trivia host, a tour guide, and a musical theatre actor, but it wasn't until I started puppeteering that all the pieces began to click. I have loved all these paths individually, learning to paint music with movement and words; but after years of circling something intangible and multitudes of experiences I could feel it all culminating in an epiphany... My "type", as it turns out, is multi-hyphenate, and in the craft of puppetry you have to be able to do it all. Even then you must transcend by transferring dance, music, and poetic heart into inanimate objects, transforming the items in your hands into new beings overflowing with life. Ironically, I have found through using a puppet that I can finally be myself. My outlet and my muse, as a Puppeteer I have found how to tell my own story.
